India has significantly escalated its enforcement against illegal online gambling and betting platforms, blocking nearly 8,400 websites and applications to date. The latest action targets around 300 additional entities accused of operating unauthorized betting services, including casino games, sports betting, and peer-to-peer wagering systems. This crackdown follows the implementation of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, aimed at curbing financial risks and protecting consumers.
